  • U-M/Los Alamos Partnership: This project aims to advance research in AI, materials science, energy, and national security. It will consist of a secure, classified center and a collaborative academic center.
  • Location & Development: The facility is planned for a 124-acre site on Textile Road in Ypsilanti Township, with construction set to begin in 2026.
  • “Great Lakes” Supercomputer: Currently, U-M utilizes the “Great Lakes” high-performance computing cluster for research.
  • MSU Capabilities: Michigan State University (MSU) operates its own, separate high-performance computing center (ICER), which features over 56,000 compute cores and 3.9 petaflops of capacity.
